Why it matters:
Good cable management isn’t just about a nice look, it helps prevent signal issues, minimizes wear and tear, and reduces trip hazards in public spaces. A clean, organized setup also enhances security and day-to-day usability.

Tips for a safer, tidier setup:

  • Keep it simple. Most Meescan stations only require 1–2 cables (usually a power cable and/or a scanner connection). Only plug in the essential cables to avoid unnecessary clutter.

  • Bundle neatly. Use cable ties (50–100 mm) or Velcro straps to group cables and keep them in place. Avoid overly tight loops that could damage the wires.

  • Secure visible cables. For floor-level installations, use a floor cable cover or a flexible split tubing conduit. These covers protect the cable from wear and reduce tripping risks in public spaces.

  • Use single-piece charging cables. To prevent theft or damage, we recommend using a power cable that comes as a single unit with the adapter permanently attached. This eliminates the chance of the adapter being separated, a common issue with typical Apple detachable chargers.

  • Label your cables. Tag both ends of each cable with clear labels. This makes troubleshooting, maintenance, or relocation much easier for staff and IT teams.

  • Avoid high-traffic areas. Route cables along walls or beneath the kiosk base whenever possible. If your station is placed in a central or open space, consider anchoring the cables with adhesive clips or protective covers.

  • Do a quick visual check during cleaning. If your cable ties have loosened or covers have shifted, re-secure them to keep everything looking and functioning its best.

Pro tip:
A tidy setup not only helps your Meescan equipment operate better, it also shows patrons that your station is well cared for and thoughtfully installed.

Routine Cleaning

  • Turn off the iPad kiosk first.
  • Use a soft, lint‑free cloth lightly dampened with 70% isopropyl alcohol. Avoid paper towels or bleach.
  • Wipe the iPad screen gently.
  • Never spray liquids directly, mist onto the cloth first.

The Meescan stations will retain its original appearance with reasonable handling and care. To ensure your unit stays looking its best, please review the following guidelines:

To clean the surface of the unit, dust it with a soft, damp cloth or chamois and wipe gently. Use soap and lukewarm water to remove light dirt. Be sure to dry the surface by blotting with a damp cloth or chamois to prevent streaking and water spots.

Important:
Do not use cleaners or water near the photo-eyes. Always disconnect power before cleaning the unit.

Recommended Cleaners

For general routine cleaning, the following mild detergents and multi-purpose cleaners are recommended:

  • Top Job with Ammonia
  • Joy Detergent
  • Janitor in a Drum
  • Isopropanol
  • Spic & Span
  • Fantastik
  • Formula 409
  • All Detergent (Powder)
  • Johnson’s Pledge
  • Mr. Clean
